GSC Novena Day 3:Third Sunday of Easter

Today’s celebration was graced by Archbishop Joseph Marino, Apostolic Nuncio to Malaysia and concelebrated by Rev Fr Bernard Hyacinth, SJ, Regional Director of Jesuit Refugee Service-Asia Pacific and Rev Fr Christopher Wilvaraj, KL Archdiocese Vocation Director.

In his homily, Archbishop highlighted it is Jesus who comes in search of the disciples, who had returned to their daily life and jobs as fishermen. Upon recognizing Jesus, Peter and the apostles obeyed His instruction precisely. The risen Jesus caught Peter’s attention by telling the disciples how to catch 153 fishes at one time. If only we obey Jesus precisely, we too will be rewarded thirty, sixty or a hundred fold.

He also quoted Pope Francis’ “Amoris Laetitia,” or “The Joy of Love” where the Holy Father urges church leaders to serve as nurturing pastors and not as rigid enforcers of doctrine. Showing mercy like the Father, we should always bear in mind that His anger lasts for a moment but His mercy lasts forever. The same measure should be shown to all those in whom we come in contact with.

After mass, the congregation continued to visit the Vocation Awareness booth to learn more about the various religious oders.
